I’m a fan of “Inside the Actors Studio,” and it’s idiosyncratic host, James Lipton. And not just because it’s practically the only thing I can stomach on Bravo. For those of you who’ve watched or are familiar with the program, you’ll know that Lipton always closes any interview with 10 questions before turning Q&A over to his Actor’s Studio students. Here’s how my interview would go:
What is your favorite word?: “Nice.” It even makes one smile a little to say it.
What is your least favorite word?: “C—.” It’s disgusting. And it’s always said with emotional (and sometimes physical) violence.
What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?: Comedy. Anything comic – stand up, really funny movies, or just joking around.
What turns you off creatively, spiritually or emotionally?: Paul Ryan’s smugness and arrogance. He basically worships at the feet of a miserable and morally bankrupt idol (Ayn Rand) who would break just about every “Good Samaritan Law” in the country if she saw someone in trouble.
What sound or noise do you love?: Babies laughing
What sound or noise do you hate?: Sirens
What is your favorite curse word? “Muuuuthaaaafuckkkkaaaaa” (has to be said the way Duchovny said in on his show “Californication”). Although lately (election season 2016), “Piece of Shit” is climbing the charts.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?: Writer / Author
What profession would you not like to do?: Prison Guard
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?: “See, didn’t I tell you it would all be ok?”
