Sessions is full of CACA on DACA

I listened to our esteemed cracker of an Attorney General, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III (JBSIII), on the radio this morning. The Grand Keebler was explaining why his boss, and brave stalwart of moral authority himself, Donald J. Trump, was going to rescind the 5-year-old “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals,” or “DACA” program. In 2012, President Obama established DACA after the Republican-controlled Congress refused to take up comprehensive immigration reform, or even a portion of it that was introduced on its own as “The Dream Act.” The Dream Act (as would have a comprehensive immigration package) included provisions extending the legal rights of residents who – under no choice of their own – were brought to this country by the parents, but who are undocumented.

DACA was restricted to residents who:

  • Had to have entered the U.S. prior to 2007
  • Were no older than 15 when they arrived
  • Were no older than 30 when DACA was launched in 2012.

The program has provided some 800,000 residents clarity on their ability to remain in the U.S. and go on to graduate from college and exist as a productive member of our society. But they are mostly “brown people,” so the good Christians in the Trump administration think it’s time for “their kind” (my words) to go.

So, with an eye for veracity, let’s take a look at several select nuggets from our racist Attorney General’s official statement this morning, shall we?

JBSIII: The DACA program was implemented in 2012 and essentially provided a legal status for recipients for a renewable two-year term, ….

TF: Ok, so it gives them legal status that they have to renew every two years, meaning it’s NOT in perpetuity and they can have their legal standing rejected on bad behavior? Sounds pretty good so far!

JBSIII: . . . “work authorization and other benefits, including participation in the social security program, to 800,000 mostly-adult illegal aliens.

TF: Work authorization – so they WANT to work? Ok, still good. And participation in the Social Security program? Ok here, Sessions and the Trumpster fire clearly want us to think that we’ve been giving these young people loads of Social Security benefits that your tax dollars have been funding. WRONG. If anything – they have been CONTRIBUTING to the solvency of Social Security through the FICA taxes they pay out of every paycheck. And they’re too young to collect benefits!  So, they’re participating alright. To every Social Security recipient’s benefit!

And as for “800,000 mostly adult illegal aliens?” Are we supposed to be frightened that they are adults? Of course they are mostly adults now. Because they were children when they arrived, before 2007, at age 15. Do the math, Jeff!

JBSIII: This policy was implemented unilaterally to great controversy and legal concern after Congress rejected legislative proposals to extend similar benefits on numerous occasions to this same group of illegal aliens.”

TF: In other words, me and a whole bunch of my chickenshit and/or racist Republican friends, who claim to be the biggest and best Christians alive, and who controlled Congress, failed to give these Dreamers clarity of any kind. In fact, we voted NOT to. We also dropped attempts to pass comprehensive immigration reform despite MULTIPLE opportunities to do so. And seeing our utter gutlessness and failure, President Obama did something about it, because he’s a class act who understands that justice delayed is justice denied. This was very controversial, because of … being humane?

JBSIII: The effect of this unilateral executive amnesty, among other things, contributed to a surge of unaccompanied minors on the southern border that yielded terrible humanitarian consequences….”

TF: No, Jeff. Both FiveThirtyEight.com and Vox have researched this topic and found that the surge of people coming to our southern border have crossed through multiple countries and are largely coming from Central America, where they were witness to a dramatic rise in drug activity and violence against teens who refuse to buy or sell drugs. They didn’t all hear about DACA and come running for Social Security benefits they wouldn’t see for 50-60 years.

Also, would deporting 800,000 Dreamers to “home” countries many or most barely remember result in anything OTHER than terrible humanitarian consequences?

JBSIII: “…It also denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same jobs to go to illegal aliens.”

TF: Really? So, we’re just going to willfully go against all economic evidence that suggests: 1) immigration in general is good for the economy, as it means more people need goods and services; 2)  native-born and multi-generational Americans demand and fill higher skilled labor, 3) allowing for lower-skilled but all important labor to be a starting point for immigrants? …Yeah, let’s just ignore it. Because showing intelligence sucks, and we need to play to our ill-informed, immigrant-hating base!!

JBSIII: We inherited from our Founders—and have advanced—an unsurpassed legal heritage, which is the foundation of our freedom, safety, and prosperity.”

TF: I have to admit he’s right on this one. Freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to air our grievances… Oh!  Freedom of the press to be independent and objective … freedom from sexual assault, hate crimes, domestic terrorists, and freedom from illegal search and seizure are all pretty important.

JBSIII: “Societies where the rule of law is subject to political whims and personal biases tend to become societies afflicted by corruption, poverty, and human suffering.

TF: Ok… now I’m pissed off. This administration – the one DONALD TRUMP is in charge of – is going to preach against political whims and personal biases?!  … and because they tend to lead to corruption?!  Cue the laugh track. This is a president who literally ran for president on a whim, called three of his opponents “Little Marco,” “Lyin’ Ted,” and “Crooked Hillary,” (and still does to her, even after winning the election). He hates the media anytime they are objective and don’t fawn him with praise, hates anyone who isn’t white or at least an Eastern European immigrant, and has lied about his father’s membership in the KKK. He whimsically had fallen arches during Vietnam, and appears quite biased about paying third parties who work for his companies. He appointed his children and relatives to important positions (it’s called Nepotism, Donald. It’s reserved for despots and dictators), and seems to only respect international leaders who murder those suffering from drug addiction in their own countries. Phew. I’m tired. I only have time for one more, and I don’t even think we’re halfway through the speech.

JBSIII: “To have a lawful system of immigration that serves the national interest, we cannot admit everyone who would like to come here. That is an open border policy and the American people have rightly rejected it.”

TF: Right… which is why we’ve never had an open-door policy, you moron.

The elfen one then went on to make several legal arguments about President Obama overreaching as the nation’s executive in establishing DACA that certainly sound like they have some legal merit. But that fact is, this administration has made it very clear that legal merit is the LEAST of their concerns.

So, use the veil of legal precedent and executive powers if you must Trumpsters, but the rest of us know what’s really going on. And that is you are denying justice to nearly a million people who did not make their own choice to live in the United States. And now many of them have children born here who are legal U.S. Citizens. Separating families and weakening our economy overnight are NOT what anyone, let alone you, were elected to do.
